Hi Sandy,
It sounds to me like you may have speech set to "On request" so just press
the farthest left thumb key and the space bar to see "speech off" on the
display.
You may also wish to go to the options menu and the review voice
options and play with the volume settings there.

I am running keysoft 6. I have the speech turned off but still hear the
alert tones when i backspace.
I know there is a way to turn it off. Can someone tell me how to do it?
