So are you saying that because the screen readers drive the braillenote through its own drivers, they don't require Windows drivers like another Braille display, the voyager, to be installed?

As I'm applying for a braillenote mpower soon with my DSA grant, I'd like to
know what else there is on the CD-ROM apart from the below message. For
example, does it include Windows drivers so that the screen
reader(s) can drive the braillenote? Thanks.

Hi KC, the CD ROM contains audio in MP3, the BrailleNote user's Guide in various forms, Microsoft ActiveSync, and KeySync.

Thank you Terry.
>From E-Mail I have received, there are others on the BN List who
seem to agree. However, until HW agrees we are out in left field! At the same time, the CD-Rom, for the sake of convenience, should be clearly marked "Audio," if that is all it will be!

Hi Jonathan;
I think KC and other deaf blind users are looking for a text
version of
the tutorial. A lot can be learned from the tutorial and they
need
access to it too, even though it is in written format. An audio tutorial is the best for learning, but since they can not use it,
you
need to give them the equivalent. You could put it on your site
and all
could use it.

Hi KC, it is completely unrealistic to expect us to stop
producing audio

material because Deaf Blind people can't access it. What it is
realistic

to expect is that we will make the same information available by
other
means that are accessible to Deaf Blind people, and this is
already
happening. So I'm at a loss to understand what precisely the
problem is.

We have no way of knowing when we ship a product that is all
boxed up,
whether the customer receiving it is Deaf Blind or not. So if the
audio
material isn't useful, it can be ignored. All the same
information is in

the User Guide on board the unit.

Hi Jonathan,
I don't mean to be difficult. However, I'm on a several Listserves with folks who are deaf-blind. More than a few are Bn users. Perhapsyou should be aware there is a general sense of
dismay at the fact HW offers a tutorial on CD rom that is
audio only. I mention this, because you indicate here that you
are mindful of the needs of consumers who are deaf-blind.
