I had the choice between a packmate and braille note MPower earlier
this year. There are some differences which could matter. For one, the
display for the packmate is detachable. The packmate with a braille
display is quite large. I needed something that would be small enough
and yet capable enough. I almost never use the speech, so I did not
have interest in a detachable braille display. I know that there are
other differences but these were the ones that really made the
decision for me.
Obviously, I have much more experience with the MPower, but it is
really a great and steady machine. I've also heard of the reputation
of HumanWare as far as quality and technical support, and that was
another incentive to give the BN a try.
I looked very longingly at the Braille Note PK, but it was just a
little too small for my needs, though a great machine as far as I
could tell.
I highly recommend the MPower if it seems to fit with what you want to
do. I too recommend a hands-on trial of the two machines if you can do
it.
