Hi all! I am new to the braillenote list but not to the world of
technology. I have had my voicenote bt for one whole week and have been
thrilled! Its amazing how Jonnathan Mosen had become the voice of
Humanware. My husband and I have been talking a lot lately about the
benefits of a system designed specifically for the blind. For years it
seems, we were supposed to want access to all that off the shelf software.
For me, now, I just want something that works! I'm tired of wandering
around some unfamiliar screen trying to figure out whats important. Two
years ago I got my employer to purchase a pacmate and had to give it back.
At one point I was trying to listen to an "audible book" and the clock
kept saying the time. Noone could tell me how to stop this because they
hadn't worked with that application. There was no information in the
manual about braille grades, or translating. The reason I couldn't keep
working with the pacmate was because I kept bonking the keys and jumping
into other modes which I then had to back track out of.
Now that I have made my big decision to go with a closed system it is
shocking when a well respected figure in the industry switches camps.
Perhaps Freedom Scientific has promised more "freedom"! Anyway, we will
miss Jm and FS was smart to get him.
