Hi Chris,
Well, that helps a lot. I would think that the things she would
find useful would be the spell checker, which is always helpful,
and the context sensitive help. That's the big one. The only
command she'll need to remember is either the space with H, or
the Help Key, depending on which flavour of BN she gets. But I've
never seen anything as good as the Help system on the BN. Along
the same lines, the menu system will be easy to learn and
navigate, since it is uniform throughout Keysoft.
As to what use she might put it to, I haven't a clue! I don't
know her! Does she like to write? Read? Play games? Email? Play
on the Internet? If the answer is yes to a couple of these, then
likely she would find the MPower just as cool as all the rest of
us do!
,
HTH,
Rachael

Yes, that's fine. Basically her learning disability is the
combination of
the difficulty in spelling or grammar, numeracy, and
organizational skills.
Of course when I get one I'll let her play around with it. She
does easily
forget how to perform tasks on the computer even though she's
willing to
learn, so thought a notetaker may be benificial as she won't have
to
remember as many commands.. Hope this is better.

Hi Chris,
Without a bit more clarification of exactly what her
disabilities, and her
abilities are, I would think your problem would be impossible to
answer. And
I would take anyone's advice on this with more than a few grains
of salt.
Learning disabilities come in all shapes and sizes, and
generalizations are
not only impossible, but harmful. For the sake of her privacy, I
would
encourage you to speak to some people who are familiar with her,
or,
perhaps, write to a couple of people on list whose opinion you
value, and
that might give you some ideas. Also, since you'll be getting
one, you might
let her fool around with yours, to see if she wants one, or
thinks she could
benefit from one.
I hope you found this helpful, and not just adding to the
confusion. Best of
luck to the both of you!
Rachael

Hi all,
I would like to make some enquiries. I was just wondering whether
my
girlfriend, who suffers from severe learning difficulties due to
a rare
genetic disorder, would benefit with a Braillenote MPower? If so
what could
she gain from it? Her name is Hannah Day.
Thanks.
