KC,

You can connect a wireless router to cable or your phone line provided your phone company or cable company has DSL or high speed service. I have had two m-power units and two computers working flawlessly on my router at the same time. My wife can get her Email and I can do the same thing with no difficulty. We each have our own Email addresses. We both can browse the web at the same time as well. I can use my M-power or PC anywhere in my house. Both seem to work nicely in my back yard as well. I have a WEP code on my network. This is a security code which prevents anyone from getting into my network or router unless those wanting in know the WEP code.

A public
place as a hotel, restaurant, airport often have unsecured networks. If your M-power can see the network, you might be able to use it. Some have procedures which need to be performed before one can get on a network. One of the blindness conventions last summer had a problem for people trying to login to the hotel's network. An Alt I needed to be typed in and the M-power doesn't have an alt key. A laptop could use the network but the BN could not do so, at least the BT model couldn't use the network from what I understand. Other places require you to pay to use their network. If there is an open network or one that is not secured, you could probably use it with your BN M-power with the wireless card. If not an open network, you won't be able to use it.

I think wireless is the way to go! I can use my M-power and PC anywhere in my house and in my back yard as well. One is not tied to wires.

Malaina,

There seems to be considerable confusion about this whole issue of "wireless!"

A dear friend just had DSL installed in her home. She has a router and was told she can go wirless. (That remindsme, she hasnt said anything abut a "WEP KEY," and I kow that is not requied for DSL.) This friend is familiar with using a WIFI card, and has used it in other situations, where an in-house wirless service wasn't available.

Now, you are saying it is not possible to use "wirless" connectivity with anything but cable. Correct?

(I'm the Queen of befuddlement!)
