Michelle,
Someone asked same quesiton a whil back:
A router is a device which allows two or more computers to connect to each
other. This is used for what's called networking, and a benefit is to use
what is called Internet Conneciton Sharing--a feature that allows one
Internet conneciton to be used by two or more computers). So, for example,
let's say you have the wireless card on your BrailleNote and you have a
WiFi-capable PC. If you set up a WiFi network, you'll be able to use your
PC's Internet Connection on your BrailleNote in addition to the usual way.
This also allows you to browse network folders (which is another topic for
discusing on the list). I hope thi sinformation may refresh your memory.

Hi guys! I can't remember what a router is. Can someone please refresh my
memory? It's not the box thing, is it -- the one that turns on and off?

Cheers!

Michele

I don't think that you have much to fear about someone getting in to your
system. The router has a built in fire wall and is quite safe.

I have had a router on my system for over 4 years and have had no trouble
with people trying to get in to my system.
