I always use an antistatic cloth myself. The home-made version is a small piece of cotton cloth washed/soaked in fabric conditioner and left to dry, then slightly dampened and rubbed gently over the Braille display.

It works well for me.

How would one with muscular problems like myself be able to use canned
air? If I can't use it, is it safe to wipe the display with a flannel
soaked in warm water and of course the water wringed out?? Thanks.

I just blow it across the display and around the Braille keys to
keep dust from falling into them.
The canned air can has a little straw which directs the stream
of air where you want it to go. My sighted friend and the
husband of a blind friend have told us that they can see dust
blowing away from the machine and into the air.
I've used canned air since I got my first BrailleNote in 2003,
and it's never caused me any problems. Also, because the can is
located right here on my desk, I don't have to stop writing to
blow out the dust. I don't even have to leave my chair or the
room to reach the can.

confused. Do you do it differently from the rag in some cases?
