However, I could use my bn as terminal for screen reader without this program when I was using serial to USB adaptor.
i am not sure about issuing commands though, i did not try that.

Yes, you are correct. The significance of JAWS in the file name is that to use the BrailleNote as a emulator with JAWS, it is required that the proper drivers are installed.

The file that is mentioned in the subject line is so a user can have the ability to control their computer from their brailleNote. If something is being emulated, it is the ability to do the same function, without actually using that device. In this case, the PC keyboard is being emulated by the BrailleNote.
