Hi Cindy, A few things. First of all, if you ever get that qmessage that a name is already in use when you try to create a partnership, it's a good idea to disconnect your braillenote and start activesync again without the braillenote connected and under the files menu of activesync on your pc, delete any partnerships that may be there.
You may need to create a new partership if you have to perform a 4 5 6 reset on your braillenote for example. Now, once you have deleted all previous partnerships, connect your braillenote and start activesync again in the usual way. When asked if you wish to create a partnership, you can either answer yes or no. You shouldn't have to create a partnership if all you want to do is to copy files, but you do need to create one if you plan to do synchronization of files and the like. If you do create a partnership, the next screen will give you a list of check boxes for different synchronizing functions. You should make sure all of these check boxes are unchecked. Then, once the partnership is complete, or if you decide not to create one, go to the mobile device which will show up within "my compuber" on your pc. Hit enter on that and you should see a list of several different folders and such. Locate the one that says "flash disk" and hit enter again. You are now able to see the folders on your flash disk. Next, select the folder on your flash disk which you either want to copy files from or to. All of this selection is done on your pc. YOu really don't use the braillenote keyboard of the braillenote for any of the copy functions in activesync. You use copy and paste on the pc. For example, if you want to copy a file from your pc, locate that file on your c drive or wherever it is and do a control c to copy it to the clipboard. Then go to mobile device, flash disk, the folder you want to put it into and hit enter to open that folder. Then do a control v and the file will be pasted into the folder on the flash disk of your braillenote. To copy from the braillenote to the pc, use the pc to find your flash disk, the folder where the file is, open the folder and locate the file. Do a control C to copy that file to the pc clipboard and then locate the folder on your pc wher you want to put the file. Do a control v to paste it, and it will be copied from your braillenote to the pc. As I say, all of the keyboard operations are performed from the pc keyboard. I hope this information is useful to you. Don On Sun, 29 Oct 2006 14:45:26 -0600, Cindy Ray wrote: I have just joined this list. Perhaps I have missed something on the topic I am about to ask, but I would really appreciate some assistance here. I don't particularly want to syncronize files at this point. All I would like to do is copy files to and from my computer, such as class notes, etc., so that I don't have to copy by hand back and forth. I installed ActiveSync, and I have two issues. 1. I was trying to create a partnership, and I gave it a name. There claimed to be an error, so I had to reboot as that was what I was told I had to do. I was again asked to create a partnership, but the MPower said that this name was in use, so I had to use another, which I did. I found the "mobile device", but I couldn't make much sense out of it. Then later I discovered i had not completed creating the second partnership. I think I did this, for now the "mobile device" has a letter on my computer. I still don't understand how I would copy between the two. I have sought to find it in the manual, but I am struggling to find where the information would be located. Thanks for your help in this matter.
