I experienced something similar to that last year. On a trip to Florida, I dropped my unit in sand. It began making this awful noise, and the braille display would go on and off. I was still able to use speech for a while. I didn't want to send it in. But, I turned it on one day and the speech sounded strange. Then, everything stopped. It wouldn't work at all. No resets would work. So, I sent it in and the price was about 80 dollars. I hope things go ok. Brett Wilhelm [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shelley L. Subject: [Braillenote] Braillenote Froze in the On position

Hi you all,

I suspect this is going to require some serious inhouse repairing, but I can
hope.

My Braillenote Classic QT has froze in the on position. I can not turn it
off, with the power switch, or the reset button. it doesn't respond to
either soft or hard resets, and doesn't react when you remove the adaptor or
the CF card. Touching keys, in any combination does nothing, and the
braille display is stuck, with the words snickered. Fred Tugged on the on
the screen. Which i know there is power going to the display as I was told
that it won't rise up unless there is power.

Am a bit worried as well I don't know what this is, and of course I also
have to wonder what will happen if anything when the battery dies.

has anyone experienced this, and if so wat was the likely culpret, and the
more pressing question how much was it to repair? As that is what the state
agency is going to be asking. And naturally at what point is it worth
considering giving up the ghost and pgrading if that is possible? I have
had this unit now for six years.
