I think this test issue brings up another point. If our BrailleNotes are in the shop or if our printer breaks down, we have no way to communicate in print to sighted people. In the old days, there was the typewriter, but typewriters aren't being made anymore. It seems to me HumanWare should consider looking into a mechanical solution which would fill the bill. Unless a blind person has seen before, handwriting with a pencil and paper is hard to learn and hard for the sighted folks to read. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would find it hard to dictate an essay with all the correct punctuation without first writing it down in braille. (I always had to write essays in braille and then type them).

Another thing: I vaguely remember the SAT test I took in 1969 or 1970 had both braille and print on the same page and I used a pencil to mark my answers.

I know that some embossers can emboss pages with braille and print on the same page. Does HumanWare sell one of these?

Presently, neither my printer nor my embosser will work with my Mpower, I am very disappointed in this fact, and I know PK users can neither emboss nor print with their PK's.

It's hard for me to understand why HumanWare hasn't found a solution so we could use our units with most, if not all, of the printers and embossers on the market. I suppose some of the problem is many printers, like the HP LaserJet 1010 series, require installation of software.

It was david, sorry about that Chris.

I have taken classes at our community college over the last couple of years
and I had to do tests the good old-fashioned way with a reader. It works
just fine. It eliminates the cheating possibility.

Take care.
