As Keymail doesn't support Imap, you will not be able to access Fastmail using Keymail. However, you can use the web interface of Fastmail using Keyweb. If you do decide to pay to access the Pop3 server of Fastmail, then you can use Keymail, and shouldn't require SSL to connect. Hope that helps.
