Hi Richard; If we start out with 5.1, then up grade to 6.00., then 6.00 should have all functions of 5.1 and those of 6.0. We replaced 5.1 with 6.00. the same should be true with 6.00 and 7.2. If someone buys a machine with 7.2, it should have all the upgrades from 5.1 to 6.0 and from 6.0 to 7.2. I was able to go from 5.1 to 7.0, but I did have to pay for the upgrade inbetween. This was when they did my transplant. When I had 7.0 on my machine I should have been able to hold off until 8.0 came out, if I was crazy enough to, but then I would have to pay for two upgrades. That's where HW gets its people. It charges for every upgrade. We can save with a 2 for 1 in an SMA agreement. Terry Powers

I don't write this as an apologist for Humanware or any other companying this field. However, if I'm understanding you correctly, what you are complaining about is that you currently have Keysoft version 5.1. You want to go to the latest version. I agree with you that you should be able to do this, but here is why you can't. Because 6.0 was not only an upgrade of the Keysoft software but of the operating system itself. Therefore, if you purchased version 7.0 as is, it would not run on your system. Certainly, Humanware could conceivably create upgrades that include both, but unfortunately they don't. At least you are not being forced to upgrade your hardware. Remember, there are millions of people out there who would love to upgrade to Vista whose current computer systems would never support its rigorous demands on memory. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc. Hi Sharon On PK: Whatever new Windows technologies was implemented in Version 6 is also present in Version 7. So, skipping from 5.1 Build 19 (or 22) to Version 7xx WILL NOT BREAK the ernel. Having to pay for an UNWANTED UPGRADE, in this case, Version 6xx is unwarranted. I'd repeat my example: I was using Windows 98 Second Edition; then I LEAPED UP to Windows XP Professional. Microsoft NEVER FORCED ME to purchase an UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 2000 or Windows XP Home before I COULD GET TO THE PROFESSIONAL VERSION. Presently, I am MOVING OUR COMPUTER SYSTEMS INTO WINDOWS VISTA; I am NOT REQUIRED to first PURCHASE WINDOWS VISTA BUSINESS before going to Windows Vista Ultimate. In essence, since the components RESENT IN VESION 6 are also in Version 7, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE WHICH OF THE TWO UPGRADES I need, 6 or 7 without compromising the operability of my BrailleNote Classic. When the last upgrade for BrailleNote Classic expires, then what? Just STICK WITH MAINTENANCE only? The argument is, and will always be, IT IS A SMALL MARKET! When you pull together blind persons worldwide buying the product, ten it is a MUCH LARGER MARKET than one can possibly imagine. And even if it is a SMALL MARKET, that DOES NOT LEND CREDENCE to what amounts to price gouching!! Sincerely, Olusegun ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
