Paying for an SMA doesn't bother me because I am paying in order that I
get two upgrades for the price of one.
Paying for a product which currently isn't available does.
With all do respect, the device is still being beta tested!
A close friend of mine is one of the beta testers!
There is no way it will ship in August!
Essentially, I'm being charged for a device that is not in fact yet a
finished product! If it were a finished product, my supervisor and
friend would not be beta testing firmware and still finding bugs!
The majority of companies charge when shipping. I have ordered
numerous items that were back ordered, and of course they didn't charge
until the item was in fact in stock and ready to ship.
Technically, this item is not in stock, the final firmware is still
non-existent!
No, list members, this is not the way the majority of companies do
business.

Dear Kathy and list:

When you paid for the upcoming upgrade in January, did you buy an
SMA or were you just paying for one upgrade?

The reason I ask is that normally when you prepay for an upgrade,
you are purchasing an SMA (Software Maintenance Agreement) which
gives you the next two paid for upgrades for the price of just
one upgrade.

True they're getting the use of your money before the upgrade is
released, but you're getting two upgrades for the price of one,
so it's a fairly good deal for both you and Humanware.

Regarding the card being charged up front for the Victor Reader
Stream, I didn't ask if I would be charged up front or when the
product ships so can't say I was done wrong if they have already
charged my card.

Not sure how they're going to handle the draw for the free Victor
Reader Streams as they said every tenth unit purchased at the
conventions will be given away free. I'm not certain if the draw
includes everyone who purchases a Stream before they are released
or just ones bought at the conventions.

I'm just itching to get my Stream and put it through its paces.
