Ok, But the card should not have been debited until the item was to ship. I ordered the stream on July 5. Nothing happened until HumanWare decided to use the card last week. The point is, yes debit transactions happen immediately, but the transaction should not have even occurred until the item was ready to ship.

The seller has no ability to defer or withhold the transaction. The debit to you is immediate, and the credit to the seller the same. Isn't that why you prefer to use a debit card over a credit card? HumanWare had no control over when the payment would occur, except to refuse your debit card. With a standard credit card, the seller can take the data, and withhold processing it until a later date. Your chosen method of payment may have been the cause of the untimely payment from your account. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Ring" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Terri Pannett" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "kathy davis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 3:28 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] An Unfair Practice HumanWare says that this because I use a debit card. However, logically, since the product isn't ready to ship, there was, frankly, no need for them to touch my funds whether or not I have a debit card or a credit card. I've been using a debit card exclusively since 2001, and this is the first and only instance that funds were taken from me by a company for a product that is not a shipping product as of yet. I'm going to stop complaining, I still think it's a unfortunate practice. I mean, I don't want to pay my October phone bill in August either! -----Original Message----- From: Terri Pannett [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 12:10 PM To: Richard Ring; kathy davis; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Braillenote] An Unfair Practice HumanWare has never done this to me. I hope the company isn't going downhill. I'd definitely call them up and question them about it.
