Hi Diane and list,
You might be talking about ReadyBoost--a way of using free space on a USB flash drive as extra memory under Windows Vista. I have one of those drives (made by PNY) that acts exactly as Diane described. However, you'll only be able to use this device as a storage device. The "memory portion" will only work under Windows Vista (as I've demonstrated some months ago on my Vista podcast; for more info go to BCT website). CE does not support ReadyBoost at all.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] USB CA FLASH DRIVE

Hello,

I was ordering the KINGSTON TRAVELER from
TIGER DIRECT when the
sales rep mentioned a ca usb 2gb flash drive
which can be used
for storage or memory or a combination. When
the unit is
inserted, its entire capacity becomes
additional memory until a
portion of the drive is used as storage
space. The unused
portion serves as memory until it is used for
storage. The cost
is $49.95 with a fifty dollar rebate.
Ultimately, the final cost
is The The original cost is $49.95 with a
fifty dollar rebate.
The final price is only the $7 shipping
charge.
I will play with this little gismo over the
weekend and let you
know how successfully it runs on WORDSWORTH.
He is absolutely
delirious about the prospect of a possible
2gb of memory!

Eagerly waiting,

Diane and WORDSWORTH
