As with others, I've heard nothing about redesigning the PK. And, while the PK is a wonderful unit, it is over three years old now. And, if going by previous life spans of BN units, that is probably a little more than average.
I did just renew my hardware warranty and SMA for the PK, as it is still a wonderful unit. I mean, it is wonderful to have such a small package that can do so much, and have a Braille display built in besides. But, on the other hand, those CF cards are sure hard to get out of the unit, and it is too bad that the port where those two lights are isn't being used at all. As for the eight MB flash disk, well, I've managed to put close to twelve MB on mine. However, in doing this, I run the risk of the flash disk crashing on occasion, and thus have to fix that, something I'm still very grateful that Dean Jackson showed me how to handle. I noticed when the Classic BN went the mPower, there was pretty much a total overhaul. I was wondering if there are any redesign elements for the PK? I remember making a remark that little round holes, which are lights, are used on the BAUM Pronto as the Infrared port, but have no function on the PK what so ever. I was thinking about turning that space into a standard USB port, and if possible, also expand the on board memory to a more reasonable size (I just think 8 MB of internal storage is too tiny). I know you can have a memory card in the PK but I heard that Compact Flash cards are going out of style, so I think maybe the CF slot should be replaced with an SD slot. You could fit two SD slots in the same space that 1 CF slot could be placed. Anyone have comments on this? --------------------------------- Be a better pen pal.
