Hi all,
Remember a week or more ago I wrote to the list asking about the dhcp error I was getting while trying to connect via wireless card? Well, I said that after a while it was fine again. It happened again tonight, and I finally think I see a pattern. I went to a friend's house who has wi-fi also, and connected successfully via his wep key. Then when I was on the way home, I saw a few more networks, mostly a hotel and a few other secure networks. I connected to the hotel network because it was not secured, just to see if I could get my email, which I did fine. Then, when I got home, it would not connect to my wi-fi connection. It gave me the same dhcp error. For those of you who either do not remember or have not seen this error, it said: Windows ce networking: dhcp could not obtain an ip address. If the netcard is removable, then you can remove/reinsert it to have dhcp make another attempt to obtain an IP address for it. Otherwise, you can statically assign an address. So I did try to give it my IP address, and it said it was connected, but then it wouldn't let me check my email and when I went online, it said, cannot find server, which I don't know why it would say that because our internet is working fine. I think my pattern is this: I have noticed when I go somewhere and try to find new networks, it messes up when I get home. This is only the second time I have done this, and the first time, right after I got home from my dad's house after trying to connect unsuccessfully to his network, it messed up. Then, it happened again tonight. I have no idea why it would be doing this. Do you think that there is some kind of glitch every time I go to someone's house and connect to another network? I have heard several people say they have seen this issue, and I even upgraded to build 28 after it happened the first time, but it happened again tonight, so I'm not sure what it is. It seems to be fine after a few minutes, about 30 minutes or so, of being home. What are your thoughts?
Kerri
