Hi Alana and list,\ These "x" files are not supported on BrailleNote nor any other device except those which runs Windows Mobile 6 or later (CE 5.2). I know that CE 6 supports this. Cheers, Jsoeph

At first I created the file as a Microsoft Word document on my BrailleNote. Well I actually copied it to a memory stick [I bought a new memory stick that works properly] and modified the file on my laptop running Windows Vista, running Office 2007. I put the memory stick back in the BN and on the BN the file contained what seemed like a dollar sign in computer Braille with the letters gle next to this sign. On review with speech, character by character, the speech said "English." When this happened, I deleted the content and created the file on the memory stick using my laptop. I put the file back on the BN and at first everything was working properly. I modified the file again and the next time I put it back on the BN the same problem happened. It doesn't matter which way I transfer the file to my BN, I still get the same problem. I have not tried to modify too many files yet to find out if this happens with all files or just this one. When my laptop saves the file, it saves it as a word 97/2003 document. I tried creating what I believe is a 29=8007 document, with the extension .docx on the end of the name and the BN puts this dollar sign and a ch [grade 1 ch] with the numbers 127 spaced after that symbol. The speech pronounces it as character 127 and says the file name as it should with the extension .docx on the end of the file. Could anyone tell me if Office 2007 files are compatible with the BN? If they are not, is there a work around to this problem? When I put the supposedly empty file back in my laptop, the condense are there as expected even if it is a 2007 document. When I opened the 2007 version of the document on my BN, the file had all these strange characters in it, yet when I read it with my laptop, my work was in the file as I left it before opening it from the memory stick using my BN. Has anyone experienced this, or any similar problems before? I am quite happy for anyone to comment on this issue, but I would like a response from someone from Humanware if possible. It might also be helpful for anyone else who is having similar problems if Humanware has their input on this issue with files in general. Thanks for taking the time to read my message. Help is appreciated from everyone. Alana ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender. If your reply would be useful to the list, please send a copy to the list as well.
