Dear Brandon and list:

Your friend needs to contact Humanware Tech Support at:

+1 (800) 722-3393 option 2 then 2 for blindness products tech
support to see if they have any ideas a to how to resurrect the
Braille display.

If they don't, but offer an R. M. A. to send the unit in for
servicing, since he doesn't own the unit, he should decline the
offer of an R. M. A. and contact his counselor forthwith the news
the Braille display has died and Humanware Tech Support is of the
opinion the unit requires servicing.

KS 5 is pretty old and if the unit hasn't been serviced in years,
the Braille display probably requires at least serious cleaning
and possibly other repairs too.

His counselor will probably want the unit returned to the
commission to have them send it in for servicing, and updating
the unit to KS 7.5 build 27 would be an excellent idea too.

Hopefully it isn't an original model Classic, with only a PC/MCIA
card slot!

The counselor may be able to get Will another BrailleNote, or the
unit he has may be their only available loaner.

Sorry for the bad news!

Brian
