Iyana, 

Changing the extension will work in some cases, but more often than not, there 
will be some issues as a result of not going through
the proper process. Your best bet is to obtain an audio converter that will go 
between many formats including WAV, and MP3. I have
one that is a demo version, which places a limitation of only converting 
information up to 5 minutes. It works very nicely with JAWS
and can convert between 50 or so formats.
