Hi, I think the file download dialogue box is normal as Keyweb is based on Internet Explorer 6. Can't answer your other questions, sorry.

Hi,

Here I am again catching up with old e-mail and hoping to sort out a
problem. I'm still having difficulty downloading files; I'll try and
explain clearly what's happening and hopefully someone can help.

I'm wanting to download e-mail attachments from my google mail via the
web interface. There are 4 links associated with the attachment:
"doc", "download", "scan and download" and "view as html". Trying the
first 3 I get these problems:

1. When I press Enter a prompt comes asking which folder I want to
download to, press enter for downloads. I've usually pressed enter so
quickly I thought that was the cause of the ensuing dialog. But even
if I don't press anything this file download dialog comes. It says
getting file information, download to, ttransfer rat, and close this
dialog when download completes checkbox checked. Beeps happen.
Sometimes I've left this for quite a long time and it never seems to
stop beeping/close the dialog - even if I exit Keyweb the beeps
continue. Perhaps that makes sense, I don't know. Now - if I press
space with e while the dialog's there I then get back to the folder
then file name prompts.

2. On one occasion after I chose the folder and file name I just got
a message saying failed to download file. Other times though, the
beeps have just gone on and on for ever and I got worried because I
couldn't stop the download/I thought if it's taking this long it must
be massive and I reset while the beeps were still going on. Though
the file shouldn't be massive.

3. When I went to view the attachment as html I thought I could save
that page. So I did space with s and told it folder/file name but it
said it failed to save the page. But this was before I tried the
other links and, when on the one occasion I did get to specify the
filename, it said a file of that name already existed which was
strange to me because it had just said it failed to save the page and
anyway one would have been doc and the other html.

So I'm confused and I hope my description isn't too confused for you
to understand! Perhaps the best way to help me is try and answer the
following questions:

1. Please describe the process as it's meant to happen. And/or give
me a link to a small file to try and download which you think should
definitely work.

2. If anyone uses gmail on the web with their BN and has downloaded
attachments please describe to me what you did.

3. Do any of you get this "file download" dialog which says things
including transfer rate, close this dialog when download completes?
It seems like a windows dialog.

5. I'm worried that between all these things there might be
downloaded files I'm not aware of filling up my flash disk. I had
told it to download to downloads and thought it would be the downloads
folder on the flash disk. Is there anywhere else they would be?

Thanks,
Catherine

Hi all, don't know why you had to press space with e, when you get the
folder prompt, after pressing enter you should get a file name prompt,
if you are satisfied with the name, press enter and your file will
begin downloading. you mentioned before it gives you a dialogue? can
you give more detail on that?

thanks and hth!

Hi Catherine,
First, the file is downloaded to Temporary Internet Files folder, which is
located at KeySoft System Disk. Right after folder name prompt, you should
get "Download Filename" prompt; press ENTER and KeyWeb shoul display
progress messages.
The "Save Page" command lets you save the curent page that you are
viewing.
To add the link you are looking at, use Favorites Menu (ENTER with dots
2-3-5 on BT/PK) (I forgot the QT command) then choose "Create favorite
from,
current (curently viewing) link."
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Help with downloading files

Hi,

Please could someone clarify to me what's meant to happen when I download
a
file? A file download dialog comes up and asks me where I want to
download
the file to, press Enter for downloads. I press Enter but nothing
happens,
so I press space with e. Then there are lots of progress beeps. Do these
indicate that the file is being downloaded? Do I just need to wait?

Also I'm unclear about what the "save page" command does. If I want to
save
a page, do I do the save page command when I'm looking at it?
Or do I pdo save page when I'm on the link to the page I want to save?

Catherine
