No, the interpreter needs to be updated.

Have a great day,
Alex

How about .zblorb games? I mean, can braillenotes support them?

You did mismatch some, but basically it is there. 5.x introduced
the media player, but the independent speech (I do not think)
came along until 7.0. 6.x gave us the ability to manage
connection configurations and email accounts separately, so you
can connect to any configuration and use any email account
(before this they were tied together). 7.2 brought along
statistical functions for the calculator. Oh, 6.x updated the
web browser, though that was part of the ce upgrade. Also, the
games can support z3, z5, and z8 games, not just z5.

Have a great day,
Alex

Hi Jenny,
Well, you'll get many and lose some. As Alex
fointed out, there are many things you'll get
and things that Classic models will not be
able to support. Here's why:
The hardware itself with mono sound output is
not capable of supporting playing multiple
files at once. In other words, you can play
mp3 files and you will not be able to hear
the speech (although there is a workaround).
There's no USB port, so anything to do with
USB is excluded, along with no Bluetooth and
SD.
On the software side, since Classic has less
RAM, Eloquence is not included, nor DAISY
playback functionality.
Here's what you'll get, starting with KeySoft
5.1:
* Updated Planner
KeySoft 6.1x:
* WiFi 802.11b support (you'll need Ambicom
card to use this)
* Upgraded operating system to Windows CE 4.2
(Windows Mobile 2003)
* Updated Planner and Address List
* Ability to adjust media and speech volumes
independently although you still cannot
listen to speech while a media file is being
played.
Keysoft 7.0x:
* Text adventure games using z5 interpreter
* Database Manager to create custom databases
* Fractions.
KeySoft 7.2:
* Ability to open files under Directory.
KeySoft 7.5 (last version for Classic):
* Stats functions under calculator
* UEB (Unified English Braille) support.
And so forth. Let me know if I mismatched
versions with features.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Upgrading to M-Power

Greetings all! Thanks again to all who
responded to my questions regarding
my upgrade to the M-Power. I have read
through the extended service
contract information on the Humanware website
as suggested, and found it
interesting , to say the least. However,
upon reevaluating my options, I
have decided to simply upgrade Keysoft to
version 7.5 first, and at some
point down the road, when our finances are a
little more comfortable, I will
contact Humanware to determine what options
will be available at that time
to upgrade the hardware. While this may not
seem like the most logical
approach to some, to put it simply, it is
what I can afford at the present
time. And quite frankly, if I don't change
something about my current BN
situation, it will continue to merely collect
dust in it's case, which I
think is a real shame.

So, I suppose my only question now is, are
there any folks on the list who
might be willing to share their experiences
with upgrading just the software
on the BN BT? I'm curious as to how stable
it will be. I am also curious
about what functionality will be added, as
well as unavailable due to the
post-dated hardware. For instance, would one
be able to read Daisy books
with the new software, or is this feature
only available on the full-fledged
M-Power? What, if any, new features or
programs have you enjoyed with the
new version of Keysoft?

Thanks again, and I would like to say that I
have really enjoyed this list
thus far.

Jenny
