Hi Joseph and all,

Okay, so this day went from bad to great to very bad. :) I was able to
downgrade the unit to 6.11 as previously discussed and all went well. After
the system reset itself, I attempted to access my mail folders again, but no
such luck..."access is denied". So, ready to admit defeat, I contacted
Humanware technical support, who, by the way, was very helpful indeed. The
gentleman on the phone walked me through correcting the problem, and within
ten minutes, I saw light at the end of the tunnel. It appears that somehow
my keymail.cdb file *if memory serves), had randomly moved or had somehow
gotten placed in the keylist folder. Therefore, we simply moved it back and
rebuilt the keymail database from scratch. The loss of my messages were not
significant at this point since they are backed up on gmail anyway. Once we
had success, we both figured that upgrading the BN back to 7.5 shouldn't
pose any problem now. So, I reinstalled the 7.5 product key and upgraded
once again. Thankfully, there were no errors and the update appeared to
have gone flawlessly. Well, until it reset itself and spat out ever so
unpleasantly, "flash disk not available". Ouch! So, I tried resetting the
BN with no keys held down just as it suggested, but to no avail. So, I
contacted our friendly Humanware technical support guy who basically
confirmed our suspicions, that the flash disk had just taken a deadly
nose-dive. In retrospect, I suppose it shouldn't be a huge shock, as I can
now recall having intermitint and random problems with my BN giving the same
error when it was using the 5.1 software, but a reset or merely waiting a
while seemed to correct it in the end. However, I don't think I can wait my
way out of this one. So, off to Humanware she goes I suppose. Looks like
this upgrade has suddenly become much more expensive than I had counted on.
*sigh*

I want to thank everybody who has jumped in with their suggestions and
advice, which by the way, I did actually try everything suggested here.
<grin>

Jenny

Hi Jenny,
Insert the CF card, install the product key (from Utilities Menu, go to
Application, look for your CF card, choose "slash" directory and find the
upgraee key file and run it).
After the product kez is installed, just start the "downgrade" - plug the ac
adapter, press dots 4-5 (jk) with Reset and you're good to go.
Siné it has been almost seven years, I'd say that it is indeed Flash problem
and may need to be sent in.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Remember, Flash can only be used in a limited number of time.
