John,

I think I understand now what you're trying to do, but stating it here just in case I've misunderstood.

Your fiance has an att.yahoo dsl account. However, you want to send and receive mail from other accounts which are not att.yahoo.

If so, I do this all the time and never access my att.yahoo account except to clear junk from the mailbox occassionally.

What you need to do is to set up a connection in the connectivity menu with the logon info for the att dsl account if the dsl modem doesn't already do this for you.

So, we'll assume you are actually connected to the internet and can access web pages for example.

Now, what you need to do is to set up entries in the directory of services for each account who's email you want to either receive or send to.

In that case, you would use the appropriate server names and port numbers for those accounts. You don't have to even bother with the att.yahoo account or server settings there.

AS you can see from my message, I have my own domain name, but I also do not use the att.yahoo mail servers for various reasons, but rather use a separate mail server entirely.

So, just set up your other email accounts as you normally would and then just access them through the dsl connection provided by att.yahoo.

In other words the dsl connection and the email account connections are really totally separate.

Hope this makes some sense. If not, let me know and I'll try to be clearer than mud. <smile>

Don

Hi Don and Vicky,

Thank you both for responding. I tried changing the "secure connection" for the smtp server to yes, also tried setting the "secure connection" for pop server to yes, but still haven't solved the problem.

The message I get is, "error sending email: 530, authentication required."

I should also mention that while my fiance has a t and t dsl, and it works fine, she hasn't set up an email account with them. Or if she has one, we don't have the loj in information, although I don't think that should have any bearing on this problem.

Any other suggestions?

John
