Hi Tom,
When upgrading between builds of a version you don't need a
product key.
So for example, from 7.5 build 20 to 7.5 build 29 you would not
need a key.
However, if you actually change version, like 7.2 build 47 to 7.5
build anything, you will need a product key.
Regards,
Steve.

Subject: [Braillenote] Nearly disastrous upgrade attempt
Hi,
Speaking of upgrades, a client came to the center where I work,
and after
our computer training, I asked him how his Braille Note was
working,
whereupon he replied that he wanted to upgrade from KS 7.2 build
47 to KS
7.5. Since I had the nk.bin file on the proper SD card, I
started and went
through the upgrade process. When it completed, his BN made the
usual
bootup sounds, flashed "Keysoft 7.5 build 29" on the display,
then it asked
me for a product key. I didn't have the product key for his
unit, nor did
he, so I called Humanware and was on hold for a very long time
and got no
answer. It was getting to be serious crunch time, as I had about
half an
hour before another client was to show up, so I downloaded KS 7.2
build 47
and reinstalled it. The BN booted up normally and all appeared
to be well.
Whew! I didn't think the upgrade from 7.2 build 47 to 7.5 build
29 required
a product key installation, so why was I asked for one? Before I
see him
next time, I'll go to the SDW site and download the product key
for his
serial number, assuming that one's available. Any thoughts?
Tom
