Hi Jamie,
Long time no see...
Well, according to my personal experiments, KeyNote Gold speech
responds better, particularly when using Internet. Also, as for
battery, it might be partically discharged, so I personally
recommend that you connect the unit once you unpack it.
Hope you liked my presentations... if you had time to listen to
them...
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Introductory Questions From A Soon-To-Be
New BN User
Greetings all:
My name is Jamie Pauls. Some of you may recognize me as the
moderator of the
Victor Reader Stream discussion list, the owner of AccessWatch, a
contributor to the Blind Cool Tech podcast, or a part of the Main
Menu team.
I am about to become the proud owner of a BrailleNote BT 32 and I
have a few
questions.
First let me state that I have used a Pac Mate QX 40 for five and
a half
years. When it became obvious that the old beast I had been
using for so
long was about on its last legs, I decided after quite a bit of
research to
acquire a BrailleNote. I have scoured the user guide and
listened to about
every presentation I could find on the Internet relating to the
unit. I feel
that I know about as much as I can know without actually putting
my hands on
the thing and playing with it. With that out of the way, here
are my
questions:
1. Regarding the use of KeyNote or Eloquence, is there a
noticeable
difference in responsiveness between the two synthesizers on the
unit? I am
certainly more familiar with Eloquence, but will switch to
KeyNote in a
heartbeat if it will improve my productivity with the notetaker.
2. When I receive my new BrailleNote, what is the liklihood that
the battery
will have any charge at all? Should I just plug it into the wall
as soon as
I receive it or will it most likely have some charge when I get
it?
This should get me started. Thanks for your help in advance.
Take care.
