Can we please stop repeating the fact that the bn is not a laptop or
computer? We know that, and, unless I am mistaken, do not expect it to
completely replace one. The fact of the matter is that some of us do not
have the best of both worlds, which would be to have both a computer and a
bn, and this is not usually a situation that we can help.
I know that there has been a lot of semi angry posts to this list, but
trying to put a lid on it is not going to help the matter, might even make
it worse, so can we just try to manage it and sit tight till it blows over?
I've never heard people complain when they get over 100 tech related emails
from this list that do not concern them, but now it seems a crime to send
even less than that concerning the update.

Subject: [Braillenote] PDA's and computers
Hi list,
Just my thoughts on the negative feedback regarding the upgrade. It's
my opinion that the BN is not to be used as a computer substitute. I
don't know many sighted people who rely solely on their PDA's without
possessing a laptop or other PC as well. The BN is a great machine,
but it's not a computer and therefore cannot be expected to behave as
one. I am aware that other PDA's for the blind have slightly more
improved Word and HTML support compared to the BN, and I am
disappointed as well that this wasn't addressed in the coming upgrade.
but at the same time, there are still limitations to everything,
because again, there is no substitute for a computer, which can be
purchased for about a third of the price of the BN, screen readers
included.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, please remember that the BN is
wonderful, but not a computer. As a college student, I rely on both
pieces of equipment equally. Just something to think about!
KD
