Mike, in the normal consumer world, if a TV, computer system, cell
phone or home appliance doesn't remain compettative, people will just
simply stop using it and switch to something else. In the blindness
community it is a bit different since assistive technology is such a
significant investment, but the fact is that the BrailleNote, once a
state-of-the-art product that put people in awe when they saw what it
could do, is simply not remaining compettative. I love my
BrailleNote, but like others, was disappointed at the lack of crucial
revisions in KeySoft 8--indeed, Word support is now around 6 years
old. Have you any idea how long sighted people would use Macbooks,
Windows, cell phones or MP3 players if their compatibility with modern
file formats lagged six years behind?

So I think to put it down to complaining makes no sense: if Humanware
were a charity we would all say, "awww, thank you for this update! We
really appreciate it." But they're not a charity: we've invested
significant time and money into their product, and it's not
delivering.
