What kind of files are they? Is there any kind of marker or formatting at the cut off spot?

Now another one: when I save files to a USB drive, sometimes it gives me the message: "exception: command: data misalignment." Then when I reopen my file, only the first 15 or so words remain; the rest have totally gone bye-bye. Can you help me in this problem? Zach ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
