hi, I completely agree. I mean, I am sorry. but we were told that keysoft 8.0 was going to be out some time in the fall last year, and then we were told that it would be out at the beginning of march, and here it is now just a little toward the middle of July. and we haven't been told what is going on here. and we got to see the new features in use which is good, but that was like a month ago. but I agree, can someone tell us what is going and why ks 8 is taking so long. I really love the Braille note. and have been using it for 5 years non-stop now. and I don't think I will ever change. keep up the great work, and just let us know more often what is going, I am sooo excited to soon use ks 8. I can't wait another month or so. I really want to start using it. anyways. I am sorry for the long rant, I guess I will get out of here, and see you all soon. thanks a lot. From Sean.

Maurice.
Thank you for this information!
I think Peggy, Alex, Joseph and others had made some great points!
Peggy with lack of communication.
Alex with beta testing ideas.
I know commercial confidentiality and the need to keep prospective upgrades "in-house" is most important. Can you, someone from HW address the points that have been made on many occasions on this list, regarding the seeming lack of response to what consumers are asking for?
I mean in particular very much better support for Word?
How difficult is c e upgrading?
Greater memory?
Of course we all use the BN for a multitude of reasons and no 2 of us would use it for the same. Each one of us would have vastly different priorities when it comes to improvements, however, the feeling that HW is ignoring, disinterested, or has other "fish" in the ocean is a sentiment surely HW cannot deny or ignore. If!!!! HW feel there is no real future for the BN in the medium to long term, would you, HW tell us? Please take into account the depth of feeling and the obvious passion that your consumers have for the BN products! They could be most influential in where you, HW go!!
Peter.

Subject: [Braillenote] Keysoft 8 Thread: Dominic Gagliano

I'm forwarding the following message from Peggy which is in reply
to
Dominic's earlier post concerning KeySoft 8.

If others wish to comment on this thread please use my message
when
replying and NOT Dominic's original message. The reason for this
is
that the total size of Dominic's original message is close to
exceeding
the limit accepted by the list mailing system. This was caused
by the
fact that Dominic included the list digest as part of his
message.

If you reply to Dominic's original message the messages will be
discarded by the mail list.

Thanks

HumanWare

Thanks for the update, Dominic. I think the frustration, for me
at
least,

is not so much the delay, but the total silence on HumanWare's
part.
I'd

rather hear more frequent "we're still testing and fine tuning"
updates
than

dead silence. It seems like HumanWare only responds when 456
people
start

grumbling and saying we're frustrated, and then we get a message
like
yours.

I would rather have a message like yours posted on its own, and
not as a

response to a bunch of people feeling frustrated. Just
expressing my

feelings and giving feedback, and in no way meaning this as an
attack.

Subject: [Braillenote] KeySoft 8 update

I read that everyone is anxious to know the status and also read
a lot

of frustrations. KeySoft 8 is in its final beta testing and
being

prepared for release very, soon. There is a risk in providing an
exact

release date if the software is not completely tested and our
only

position is to meet due dates which has happened in the past. We
now

insist that we follow thru on the complete testing process and
release

once R&D have given approval.

There is a good deal of speculation on features for KeySoft 8.
These

have already been established and posted on this list as well as
our

website. This upgrade will not include an upgrade to Windows CE.

SMA's provide for two future upgrades without any specific time
frame.

If you prefer to not invest in future upgrades, then you can
purchase

single upgrades at additional cost. SMA purchases help fund the
cost for

engineering to produce software upgrades.

I thank those on the list that have been patient and have
attempted to

explain to those others that in the end we all want a stable
reliable

release.
