Precisely!! If I had an SDK, such a program sounds pretty easy to write, and
I would only charge you for it because I do not expect the SDK to be free.
Having access to the possibility of expanding the bn to fit one's needs, as
you described below, is one of the main reasons for having an SDK. Thanks
for your letter!
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] sdk letter
Hello List:
Follows the body of a letter emailed to 3 Humanware managers:
December 9, 2009 Lucia Gomez, BrailleNote Product Manager HUMANWARE
Dear Ms Gomez:
Having used a BrailleNote for many years, I wish to thank you for the
thoughtful development of such a tool. I use it every day for a variety
of tasks. Some features are used rarely, but many are used daily and my
ability to manage my work would be greatly impaired without this product.
I am excited about the new Apex BrailleNote and the improvements that it
offers. Especially I look forward to the improved MS Word support in
KeyWord. I am not a programmer, nor do I wish to become one. I am a
clinical social worker, however I strongly support the provision of a SDK
or software developer kit that could be Publically available with a
contract and fee. This would open up possibilities for the BrailleNote to
have specialized applications that might prove helpful. For my own
productivity I would gladly pay a fee to someone who could provide a very
simple method of marking my weekly KeyPlan schedule with indications if a
patient had come to treatment and what services they received or if they
cancelled;
then tally up my monthly statistics. This is not a common need and I
would not suggest that Humanware provide this. If we had access to
programmers who could provide for such individual needs I would be a very,
very happy camper. Many folks in the blind community have other specific
needs and such development could be possible with a public SDK. Please
give this issue your serious consideration as the firm that allows for
such development will have a distinct advantage over all of the
competition. Thank you for the BrailleNote line and thank you for your
time and consideration in this matter. Sincerely, JD Townsend
