Well, as the subject line says, guess this is the day for this
sort of thing. I was running the 2010 version of the Sendero GPS
this morning, although I guess it really could have been any
program. But, right in the middle of going down through the
menus, my PK froze and just wouldn't do anything. So, I tried
the C 3 and C 4 reset; and, although the PK did chime, it just
sat wouldn't do anything else.
So, after a couple of minutes, I did the C 1 and C 4 to turn off
the unit. But, every time I turn on the unit now, it makes the
sound like it is turning on, the Braille display shows the
Braillenote PK, and then the display goes blank and I can't get
any speech. The unit is still on, as I can hear the hum through
headphones, but there is no speech or Braille, not after that
initial few seconds that I mentioned. I already had the unit at
about fifty percent charged, but I left it plugged in for another
hour or so and still get the same results.
Anyone had this kind of thing happen with their unit before?
And, if so, how much did it cost you to get it fixed? You might
recall that I have an older unit, got it used a few months ago,
and it is likely well over five years old if the serial number
means anything--saying this because this one I have now has a
serial number earlier than the first PK I got in November 2004
and sold a couple of years ago. So, if it is going to cost a
lot, then guess I have a decision to make on just what I do next.
