Hi Joseph, here is the response I got from HW tech support. It would seem
from this response, that what I want to do is not possible. Jim
Hello Jim
Thank you for posting this question, as it is not a standard situation. The
file
that the station pointed you to is a direct path to a .pls file (a winamp/
real player
playlist file.) As this is useful when typing directly into the browser,
it is
not a url that can be bookmarked as the browser immediately opens the pls
file with
the media player application. You will notice this as when I opened the
file, my
browser actually remained on google, while the music was playing. The .pls
file
is made up of 20 or so urls that lead to mp3 files that are most likely on
loop
throughout the day, or possibly they change pls files at a certain time of
day.
Regardless, if the station can provide you a url address of a site where
the pls
file is hosted, you would then be able to bookmark the location, however
one cannot
bookmark a direct .pls file.
I saw that you posted this to the list as well and the above explanation is
why
changing the code in the .url favorite file still provides the error of
not being
a correct url.
Regards
Humanware Support

Hello tech support. I am trying to listen to a classical FM station

can write in when I open the browser on the Apex. The URL is
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KDFCFM.pls
My question is that when the URL is loaded, I go to favorites with dots 2 3
5 enter and add the favorite writing KDFC FM then try and open the favorit
using that favorite, the Apex says, URL unknown. I also tried to write in
the entire url as above in the favorites name but it would not accept it.
So how do I add that URL to my favorites? Thank you and best regards, Jim
Gammon

Hi,
I guess you need to add the URL manually by creating the URL file itself.
Create a text document (either from your BN or from a computer); once it is
opened, paste the address you got into the file. Then press SPACE with S
(CTRL+S); press BACKSPACE to go to folder name, then press SPACE until you
get to My Favorites and press ENTER. At the document name prompt, press
either SPACE with X or BACKSPACE with X to change the file type to "ASCII
text", then type the file name followed by .url then press ENTER. If it
works, keySoft should either ask for renaming extension or you'll be
returned to your document with the favorite saved.
Alternatively, I can send you the URL file (a simple text file) as an
attachment off list; all you need to do is detach the URL file and place it
in My Favorites folder.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hello listers. I have sent the following question to HW tech support but
thought some of you might have an answer or have had similar experiences.
This involves tryint to listen to a radio station online. I couldn’t find
an mp3 stream on the website for KDFC FM classical station and the site is
actually quite inaccessible. Well, I wrote to a contact I found there and
he got back to me with a URL that actually works when you open the Apex
browser and type it in. Anyway here is the email I sent to HW. If anyone
has an idea, please advise. Thank you. Jim
