Like Alana, I find that it charges very slowly while turned on. As soon as I turn it off and let it charge, though, it moves quite fast. I have wifi on all the time, so I can't compare having it on versus off, but turning the unit off to charge definitely makes things speed up. I never check the percentage either, since I charge it overnight and only take it off the adapter to take it somewhere. It usually can last me a full day, ten hours or so, if I need it to.
