I can answer the question about italics. In the back translation options,
there is a prompt which asks, "Convert braille typeforms to font
indicators?" If you choose yes, the translator will show italics using the
font indicator dots 1246-124-234-24 ($fsi) and dots 1246-124-15-24 ($fei).
These are the italic on and italic off indicators and they are always shown
in computer braille. In order for the fonts to appear in a print text, you
need to select a printer, even if you don't plan to use one. I always
select the HP LaserJet and Inkjet printer. Once you have selected a
printer, a sighted person reading an email with an italic font in it will
see the text in italics.
