Yes. I agree. It'd be best to use an adapter from Humanware and have a battery replacement. In the User Guide, it says that batteries typically last eighteen months before they need to be replaced.

Maybe you need to go to the Humanware site and order a new battery. Rechargeable batteries wear out eventually. If you had the same one for
five years, it's about time for it to die.

Don't get a battery from Radio Shack; get it from Humanware.  I'm
surprised you got a charger from Radio Shack. I'd think Humanware would
want you to use their charger.
