Here is an update to my situation. I upgraded to keysoft version 9.1 and now
I can use the thumb keys. But I can't use what I could use earlier. All the
non thumb key commands, like inputting text and the commands with space bar
are gone.
I can't use them at all, only thumb keys can be used.
I am using qt 32.

Are you sure the thumbkeys are on? While not in terminal, hit space-o,
then f to toggle them on or off. If the bn says "thumb keys off", do
it again to turn them back on.
