Hi. The new case is made of a stiffer material. If you have an Apex with 32 braille cells, the new case has material in the front corners that come to within about a quarter of an inche of the braille display. The new case has a flap on the right side where you slide the Apex in, unlike the old case which had that flap, but also had that little velcro strap at the back right corner. The new case does not have that little velcro strip. The zipper is the same in both cases. It may be just because my case is so new, but I find the new case does not stay close as well as the older case.

Do you think I have the original case or do you think that by then hw would have replaced the original case with the newer case? Is there anyone who has had the original case and then switched to the newer case who could describe both cases to me in detail so I could try to figure out which case I have. Also, I am wondering about the magnets on the case. I have heard that magnets are not good for electronics. Magnets can make data from hard drives, cds', cassette tapes and other electronic devices lose the data stored on them. Is the apex in danger of losing its data from being in constant contact with the magnets on the case? What about usb drives and sd cards that are plugged in to the apex or stored in the zipper pocket on the case? Are they safe? Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon S" <[email protected] To: "Jenny Dawson" <[email protected]>,"bt list" <[email protected] Date sent: Sun, 27 May 2012 18:08:25 +1000 Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Apex Case Hi Jenny, I think there was a problem with the original Apex cases. I suggest you contact your local Humanware person and ask them about it. I have had no issues with my case but I don't use it for GPS. There has been a couple of times I have needed to remove my Apex from the case when I was having issues with the battery and it wasn't easy to get it out of the case. I seem to remember people on this list saying they had problems with the case that their Apex came in and when they talked to humanware about it they got sent a replacement case because the first design had major issues with staying closed. Hope this helps, >From Shaz.
