[Braillenote] Obtaining Hardware address of the CF ethernetcard

Listers,
There are some network environment where you register your ethernet
card's hardware address for it to be used in the network.  
What is the best way to obtain it from the socket's ethernet card?  It
seems to me that there is no way that I can do it in the braillenote
though.  Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
