Dear Paul,

Why not take your BN to the Verizon store and ask to see the phone with the
infrared port.  See if you can communicate between the phone and the BN
while you're in the store.  If it works, you could consider exchanging your
present phone and cable and pay whatever difference there would be between
the price of your new phone and the old phone.

I agree that $350.00 seems steep for a cell phone.

I'm surprised Verizon doesn't have more than one phone model with an
infrared port, because it's a very popular and easy connection.
