Hi John,
Your backup folder is just the beginning of the structure of your backup 
directory.
Try reading section 13.13 of the manual and I think that will clear a lot of 
things up.

As to your question about deleting unwanted files, find the unwanted file in 
the directory option of the file menu, and press backspace with dots 1 4 and 
answer "yes" to the "are you sure you want to delete this file" question.
