Hi, John. Why don't you suggest using the backup utility?

Hello:

This message is for anyone who has lost their data especially Laura. <g>

I would first of all back up any files to a flash card etc but don't use the back up utility but copy through file manager. Next start active sync and keep keysync out of the picture and when starting Active Sync do not create a partnership.

Using the pc, navigate to the flashdisk folder through explorer or my computer and once there, do ctrl-a and hit the delete key. Depending on how many files are protected, you want to say yes on each file. You'll get a read only message and are you sure you want to delete and say yes.

Next unplug the cable and do a hard reset. When the unit comes on, you'll hear the version and chooseing the modem etc, this is according to the unit is starting over.

If you haven't had Keysoft5 burned in the unit then you'll have to follow the steps for installing Keysoft5.

I'm not sure Laura if you save all your work to the Braill Note or to a CF and if so are you using the back up utility or are you actually copying the files.

Just some suggestions and hope this helps.

John
