Hi all,

I'm afraid I'm still unable to connect my BrailleNote to the Internet via
GPRS using my Nokia 6610 mobile phone's infrared port. I asked tech support
for the parameters for dial-up networking using Windows, but they weren't
very helpful and didn't know much about it. The name of my mobile network
here in Belgium is Mobistar. I've been sniffing around on the Internet and
I have now managed to establish an infrared GPRS connection using my laptop
(the proprietary software didn't work), so I presume that that means that
the phone itself is set up correctly. I have named the Active Access Point
"internet.be", as instructed by tech support, but whenever I try to connect
with the BN, the phone's display shows the message "GPRS access point
invalid". I have tried all kinds of parameter permutations within my
Directory of Services, both with and without the primary and secondary DNS
addresses, which don't seem to be necessary when I connect to the PC.

I have received conflicting information regarding the need to configure my
phone's Service Settings (which I can access from the PC Wap Manager using
the Nokia PC Suite software). I have experimented with this but it doesn't
seem to make any difference to the BN. I get the message "dialing, logging
on, logon successful", followed immediately by a beep and the message
"disconnected".

Is there any way to configure the settings for the "Hayes compatible on
infrared" modem option within the BN? I notice from the Nokia modem options
installed on the PC that the connection type is PPP, idle timeout is 3
minutes etc, but I don't know whether this is relevant to my problem. Does
the BN support PPP connections, whatever they might be?

I apologise for the long and rambling message, but I really would appreciate
any thoughts on this. Jonathan, if you have a spare moment, could you
perhaps give me some idea of how your phone and BN are set up? Please feel
free to contact me off list at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
if you feel that this is off topic and/or boring to the list.

Thanks very much in advance,

Nicky
