Hi Marg,
Strictly speaking, zip files can be downloaded to the bn. However, there is no
unzip utility available on the bn so you can't do anything with them.

But, "necessity is the mother of invention." Aman Singer, one of your fellow
listers, came up with a work-around that usually works on the bn.

When you find a book that is in zipped format, press enter on the link. The
system should beep a few times and then say something like "folder for
downloaded files? Downloads." Press enter and the system should ask for the
name of the file, and give you the file name. Press dots 4-6 (not sure what
the qwerty command is) to go to the end of the line with the file name on it.
Type ".bks"with out the quotes. The system will say something like, "change
file extension, sure?" Type "y" and press enter.

Hopefully, you have just created a book that the system thinks is a bookshare
file. So, when you open the book in the book reader, the system will treat it
like a bookshare file and give you unpacking instructions.

Hope this helps.

Bob

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey
I asked for health, that I might do greater things
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things
I asked for riches, that I might be happy
I was given poverty, that I might be wise
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life
I was given life that I might enjoy all things
I got nothing that I asked for--but everything I had hoped for
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men, most richly blessed. ATTRIBUTION: Author unknown.
