To all GPS Users and List Members

Since its release in September there have been many posts reflecting
peoples experiences with GPS 2, most being positive about the new features
provided. Inevitably with the release of such a sophisticated product
there is an interesting "shakedown" period where users put the GPS system
through its paces, their first test routes predictably being paths which
they have previously travelled.

As with all posts to the list, Pulse Data have continued to monitor peoples
experiences with GPS 2, and while we have remained publically quiet, we
have been noting the comments and conducting our own investigations in the
background. We have also been in direct contact with some of the Users who
expressed disappointment in the results they have experienced, requesting
that they forward their GPS route files to allow us to investigate further.

If User's have specific examples where the virtual route offers less than
the ideal path, please email the GPS route file directly to me, along with
an explanation of where you feel the suggested route is in error. We will
then review this information and if applicable use it as a basis for future
enhancements.

Because the database of city names and streets is vast, typing in the names
can lead to the message that no such name exists, simply because the
spelling or punctuation of the entry in the database differs slightly from
that typed in. In such instances you are better to scroll through the
cities, or streets within a city, to locate the troublesome location.
Sighted folks have exactly the same problem when referring to a printed map
index, in that their perceived spelling of the name doesn't match how it
actually is spelt, so they also often resort to visually scrolling through
the map index. To add to the confusion, there will inevitably be some
database entries that are incorrectly spelt, so a certain amount of
detective work comes with the territory. We realise that to scroll through
the complete list of streets in a city can be time consuming, and as with
all aspects of KeySoft we will look at possible ways this can be enhanced.

So, in summary, Pulse Data will continue to monitor User's experiences with
GPS 2, and the comments and any problems will be added to the product
database, benefiting future releases of the product. This process was
carried out during the life of GPS 1, and users of the earlier product will
be able to attest to the vastly improved functionality provided by the GPS
2 release.
