Keith, I'd guess it's a problem for Pdi.  The only thing you might do, from the 
main menu, press O, then B.  It should tell you the status of the braille 
display.  If it says it's on, you'll want to talk to Pdi.  You might even try 
the right thumb key with the space bar to see if there are any changes.  Good
