A few good points to having a stand-alone reading machine:  It would be
easier to move than a desktop computer or even than a laptop, if you use an
external keyboard with the laptop.  Also, you could have your important
stuff saved in the ScanaR.  If you used a computer with a scanner and
something happened to your PC, where would you be?  Even if you did use such
a system, it would not hurt to have the ScanaR as a backup, so your reading
would be uninterrupted and your important stuff would still be available.
