Hi Kim and other interested listers. I'm happy to try and clear up any confusion.
The information you have received from HumanWare in the USA isn't actually contradictory. When you called early in March, we were indeed shipping KeySoft 6.1 at the rate per week indicated by who you spoke with. However, we then became aware that for a few customers, e-mail was not performing in a fashion that our customers should be able to expect. At that point we pulled out all the stops to initiate a beta test programme with a few of the affected customers, and release a free update. It is this that has recently started shipping. I posted an announcement on this list and the BrailleNote Announce list when that software was released, and those who already had 6.1 were able to download the update. For those who have not yet received their 6.1, it was obviously important that we update all the software in stock to 6.11, since while the update is downloadable, not everyone has a PC and a compact flash card reader to download it with. So there was a delay between when the update was available for download, and when we could begin to ship it to new customers, which we're now doing. In terms of when specific people will receive software, I have no information on this from here, but I am endeavouring to provide further clarity on this and hope to post again soon. While I understand the eagerness to get the update, I think we acted responsibly in not knowingly sending out software that, for some people, could have caused issues that would have been a major inconvenience. We worked quickly and responsibly to resolve the issues our customers reported, and now we're back on track. The feedback on 6.11 is overwhelmingly positive. This issue wouldn't be such a biggy if it wasn't for the fact that we are unable for licensing reasons to make the entire package downloadable, so that compounds things.
